as much as Americans want to move art away from capital and return it to something more personal and raw, deep down everyone still sees art as a "success" based endeavor and I think the film industry played a big role in instilling that into everyone.

I have a theory that this is a big issue in the west, namely america, because we got into film at the right time when it came out and turned it into an industry and thus exists as not even a zeitgeist but as subconscious frame of expression for everyone. All art must bow cinema, the one true art.

a few years ago I had a coworker who showed me the Saudi Arabia mega-structure video and was convinced it was in the process of being completed
