Admirer of dogs, programmer, OSS/privacy advocate, *nix nerd. More than a passing interest in medicine and astronomy.
Mostly the dog thing though.
I was already an accomplished em-dasher back when ChatGPT was still being correctly characterised as an LLM.
I think that's the plan. It has been built on theft and piracy.

Are they talking about doing the VPN thing again?
I'm not even sure how they would enforce that.

Oh, also you need to educate drivers that the more fragile you are, the more leeway and priority you get. That's a big one. If a pedestrian is on the road, they should have right of way.

As someone born and raised in the UK, jaywalking is one of a small handful of things about the US that I just don't get.
Turns out if you want to stop people crossing dangerously, you don't need to make it illegal. Just give them somewhere to cross safely and enforce reasonable speed limits.

This even applies to non-fiction books. Or even papers and articles on Wikipedia or something I guess.

The Internet is great, but I feel that 99% of the time using it is nowhere near as good for you as reading a book.

I think there's a difference between reading something that forces your to create a world and interpretation of it in your head, and also focus on it for extended periods, vs. reading a news article for 5 mins or scrolling through social media.

DISCLAIMER: I am not Russian. My name is Russ.

Just speculating and playing devil's advocate, but maybe because most Russians are just normal people who don't hate the West and may want to flee conscription or war.

We're already at a point of accelerating temperature increase. Dealing with the changes just means we migrate farther and farther away from the equator until we can no longer. There's no long term solution here, short of terraforming, an artificial habitat, or space.

Also I thought I knew your name from somewhere! My family were avid readers of AU back in the day. I grew up with an Electron, A440/1 and later a Risc PC.
Young me used to spend the entire week looking forward to the coverdiscs.
Thanks for being an inspirational part of my childhood! 😂

Oh my god. This is amazing.
I will definitely look into this! Thanks!

That's super cool. Especially the Econet bridge.

The BBC Micro was the definitive 8-bit version. My variant of choice, though, is ArcElite every day of the week.

So many em dashes. Their username may as well be DEFFO_NOT_AN_AI_HONEST.

As someone who likes a good em dash, I can't wait until all my posts are disregarded as AI slop.

I am seriously considering writing everything in lowercase so people read my posts.
I bet you feel vindicated.

I've just come back to Linux as my daily after 10 years of Windows 10, and it is amazing how far things have come.
Desktop environments still need some work in terms of useability. They can be a bit overwhelming. But driver issues are basically nonexistent now.

Probably biased because I have a @frame.work laptop with an AMD iGPU, but everything has worked flawlessly on Mint since I installed it about a month ago.

I have no idea what a 'variable fact' is. Something is either an objective truth or it's not. This is not, as evidenced by the fact that people buy the products and eat them.

So... still your opinion, sweetie.
