As a progressive, I have had a hard time since 1968 determining which Democrat of this era is more despicable: Hubert Humphrey or Gene McCarthy: A pair of pandering simps. At least LBJ was a stand up crook and liar, much like his successor. McNamara was the personification of Eisenhower's warning.
