This is fair, though sometimes you can find yourself with cool new Monk weapons, too. Kind of want to mess about with a Fighting Fan Monk in the near future myself~

Also interesting is the idea that one could take the Martial Artist archetype with Monk. In normal rules, this doesn't really do anything... but in Free Archetype, that's an extra source of Stances which frees Monk up for other abilities and Qi Powers.
