29x marathoner (22 states, 14 sub-3hr states), full of bad jokes, and friend to all dogs.
#Runchat Brag: I ran The Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon this morning. Didn’t go to plan, but that’s on me (aside from the heat). Any marathon you finish is a good marathon.

A5. Heat. I have a knack for picking races that end up being unseasonably hot… including The Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon I ran this morning! If you see I’ve signed up for your race, just cancel your plans and thank me later. #runchat

A4. Omaha Marathon 2019. They had a generic medal they could use every year. 😒 #runchat

A3. I don’t really eat much right after a race. One time I took some chicken broth and it was THICK. Pretty gross. #runchat

A2. 10k. Too long to redline it the whole way. Too short to convince myself not to redline it the whole way. #runchat

A1. Before the sun comes up. The darkness just zaps all my motivation. #runchat

Marathon #30 in June. Hoping for my 15th state in sub-3 (23rd state overall). #runchat

85°+ and I’ll usually opt for an air conditioned treadmill. That’s what basements are for! #runchat

I haven’t carried water in 10+ years. Barring high temps (relative to my acclimation) I can go up to a half marathon without water (not the smartest). I usually plan my runs to pass water fountains at some point on runs of 10+ miles. #runchat

Is it made any weirder by the face that the song was actually a hit for the band Green Jellö… who changed their name to Green Jellÿ after threat of lawsuits?

Just to come full circle on the weird times, Les Claypool, the singer from Primus, voiced one of the little pigs… as did Maynard, the singer from Tool… as did Pauly Shore. Yes. That Pauly Shore.

A5: usually wear a hat or a visor depending on temps… almost time for visor season now! #runchat

A4: While I own several pair of Goodr’s, I don’t like running with sunglasses. It’s too hard to wipe sweat out of my eyes with them on. #runchat

A3: I don’t think in all my rears of running I have ever carried an actual phone. Several years back I did start wearing an Apple Watch with cellular, just in case (but I don’t use it to track distance). #runchat

A2: Garmin Forerunner 965! #runchat

A1: Nope. Prefer shorts and a T-shirt if weather permits, but nothing “special”. Often in Rabbit gear. #runchat

A3: a year at most, but only if the race is at risk to fill up. Around 6 months is my normal limit. #runchat

Brian, Illinois. A1: I took a 4 year break from running during COVID. I did run once in a while during that time, but sometimes with month+ long gaps between. #runchat

A2: 5 years. New York 2019 -> Rocketcity 2024. I decided to take a break from running after COVID canceled my planned race. Took 4 years to decide I wanted to give it another go. #runchat

A5: D, but only because I will be in meetings all day like every Monday. I’ll figure out what happened during lunch or something. #runchat
April 21, 2025 at 12:57 AM
A4: Track workout, 100%. I push myself hard on workouts, but I’m more likely make myself throw up on hills. So, I’ll pass. #runchat

A3: small race. I prefer my space, and I’m at a point in my running life that I don’t require the crowds cheering that I used to. #runchat
