perhaps bc hundred line brain, but it did cause me to realize a decade late that the hotel and venue areas of sdr2 were inspired by this film (especially makes sense bc kodaka loves tarantino films, who is a lead and screenwriter in from dusk till dawn, and a frequent robert rodriguez collaborator)

watched tokyo twilight, this is my 2nd ozu film after tokyo story. of course, setsuko hara is a star, but ineko arima's performance is really phenomenal. it's interesting to see ozu grapple with traditional values, in many ways the generational divide is a hindrance to authentic communication
