In life, those who share in your tallest mountain tops and lowest valleys are those whom we call friends. Living those experiences are sure to sort out your friends for you. Publishing a book and a family member’s death are two of those things. Let me tell you what a month it has been.

@ruffledbygrace.bsky.social: Grief has a way of both stretching and sustaining gratitude. I have deep gratitude for the foundation you helped me build—my education, friendships and traditions. But I am stretched by the rift between who you were and who you have become.

Well, our family wasn’t raptured. It’s after 7:00 AM and it’s time to start our very normal day. Metro. Boulot. Dodo.

An eternal goodbye - infinitely difficult. But now we are home. And we will learn to navigate this world without Dad. I’m not sure how yet, but he loved us so well, so I am confident we will figure it out.

Capture my tears in your heart.
Bring comfort to my sorrowful weeping.

Dad is home. Hospice came in and prepared everything (as they do!). I am such a believer in the work of hospice and have had incredibly positive experiences in the past. Grateful my Dad will be comfortable at home now.
Sharing this because while I try to live pretty transparently on social media, it’s been hard to share my Dad’s sickness. I was a fool for having my heart tugged. Sadly, that’s both a lesson and a warning. And also why I have been so quiet. Friends, pray for my family.

I am so sorry. Sending light and breath, and my shortened version of my favorite Thich Naht Hanh meditation:

In, out
Deep, slow
Calm, ease
Present moment.

I was taken in by a sad story and request from a Twitter mutual for extra work to earn money because their father was unwell. My father was unwell at the time and I had work to be done.
