now don't get me wrong; i grew up in the 2000s with anime. i friggin LOVE the angels and demons aesthetic. it's just that maybe they don't always have to bring the apocalypse with them? y'know? there are so many other storylines that could be entertaining with angels and demons thrown in!

looking back, i feel like the death knell of these kinds of shows is often when the showrunners have so many seasons that they run out of ideas, so it's time to pull angels and demons and the christian apocalypse in to up the ante.

there's just something about that 90s style of monster-of-the-week serial that scratches a millennial storytelling itch. the pace of a season was slow and the character archetypes had rocky starts, but it was really interesting to see how each production developed them over all those episodes.
