As a calculated bet, it is smart IMO. The Rockies suck as an organization and the Coors hangover is real. With a full spring training, not crazy to get a lg avg OPS+ and good glove.

He’s a plus defender with good power and Yanks felt confident in chances they could unlock his offensive potential. See Lemahieu and Urshela.

A great read as always. Like a number of Petty songs but I think the victim bit you mentioned in your article wore on me after binging him at one point a couple years ago (espec talking about women).

Right. All about thinking next year and probabilities. I’ll say this - his 2025 K and BB rates look great for a 1/2 hitter.

Biggest things jumping out to me is: 1) Holy Renteria AVG/BABIP vs LHP in 2024, 2) his 200 R+RBI in 2024 wad the super duper best case for any player not locked into the 1-4 slots (we already know Marte/Carroll have two of top 3 and Perdomo aint hitting cleanup)

I agree with one catch. Teams larded with high priced free agents <<< homegrown players (ideally resigned for $$$$) and - to a lesser extent - traded players and reclamation project FAs.
