I read エロゲー文化研究概論 this year. It covers the key technological, social, and game design turning points for eroge succinctly. I ended up playing and reading about a dozen games and books mentioned in this book.

FYI: Little White Lies is entirely anti-AI, and we will never allow our writers' and illustrators' work to be used to train AI models. This is completely against what journalism and art should be and should stand for and it's disheartening to see other publications being taken down this road.

Reading 痴人の愛 (Naomi) by 谷崎潤一郎 (Tanizaki Jun'ichirō). For a book published 99 years ago (30 years before Lolita) it's surprising how readable and familiar the writing style is. The narrator/MC even talks directly at the reader (like in Lolita) to stress his perspective.

I really need to centralise my note-taking method. In the last few weeks, I've dotted down notes in various places and now I'm struggling to put them all together. Still... it's definitely better than not taking notes at all. So many morning thoughts have been lost to time.

So much artistic progress in 20th century Japan emerged from eroticism. Adult media is important and it's such a shame that so many cultures treat it like a dirty secret. It fills me with joy to see others proudly study these genres.

Reading Lolita in Japanese is an interesting experience. There are times the translator (若島正) will provide an extensive note about why Humbert Humbert doesn't want to stay at a motel, and then there are references that go right over my head with no explanation.
