No, they're saying that because with every additional observation of the asteroid, our knowledge of its position & velocity gets better. As that happens, we have more confidence that it will miss the Earth.

This crown likely belonged to Anne of Bohemia, wife of King Richard II, who was deposed in 1399 by Henry IV. This is the oldest surviving crown of England -- and it's now on display in the Residenzmuseum in Munich, Germany.
