Saw some people arguing about which ship was more of a crack ship to eachother and it was very funny trying to explain the argument to my boyfriend who only got more confused after he realized what ships were being argued about

It’s turn based still but they change the way speed works and turn order but like unless you’re playing like competitively it didn’t feel too crazy different from normal turn based to me LOL

My personal favorite my boyfriend taught me is estadista unido which translates to United Statesman. It’s what Latin Americans call people from the United States instead of just Americans, because well, they’re also Americans technically on the continent of the Americas. I kinda wish we’d adopt this

Some other fun examples are the Greeks calling France Gallia still which is an exonym that predates the french endonym origin (the franks). Another example is Egypt. Their endonym is currently Misr but their Exonym of Egypt, given by the Greeks again, predates Misr.

It’s called an exonym and it’s common throughout many languages actually. Ie many languages call Beijing some form of Pekin
The French call the German city of Koln Cologne
It often has to do with an older spelling/original name when the other culture first made contact with that nation
