Someone else already remarked on GITS Innocence, but I was just about to say that this scene evoked the boat montage from the Ghost in the Shell movie in me. Beautiful, low-poly scenery and animation, evocative, atmospheric.

If you're looking for a good time, go look for rock ptarmigan, willow ptarmigan, or capercaillie (or any other languages' names for the same birds) footage on Youtube. They get territorial enough to approach, heckle and fly at people who get too close; capercaillies especially are like hell turkeys.

I believe you're aiming for the phrase 'since time immemorial', which means "no one remembers the last time this happened". 👍
