One thing that worked for me was to take the image I wanted as my banner into Photoshop, increased the canvas of the image by 300%, which kept the image at its same size in the center.
Dropping that re-formatted image into the app made it much easier to edit into something that looks decent.

One thing that worked for me was to take the image I wanted as my banner into Photoshop, increased the canvas of the image by 300%, which kept the image at its same size in the center.
