When people come up here to Alaska to look at the aurora I warn them that it seldom looks as bright with the naked eye as with a time-exposure photograph. Though it can spectacular if you are away from city lights.

Many of us got to know Bellingcat for its hard hitting investigation of Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine. It is a sign of the times that they are now needed for that type of reporting on Trump’s attacks on his own citizens.

The humiliation our nation suffers due to Trump’s weakness and insecurity is painful. You would think the sight of Trump ordering soldiers to get on their knees and roll out a red carpet for Putin would get Republican in Congress upset (imagine if Harris had done that), but they stay Vichy.

That method is a bit confusing because the countries with which comparisons are being made are distorted. I like this method of comparison better, showing a country’s actual area compared with the Mercator projection.
