Tim Powers's The Drawing of the Dark was the first Powers I ever read. It's a good intro work, with evocative magic, inner and outer struggle, and like much of his early period extremely boozy.

One of my favorites is the ram chair from _Witch Hat Atelier_. All the details down to the horn armrest just fit his aesthetic so perfectly.
