I’ve seen all kinds of opinion essays and many of them I don’t agree with and it’s fine but this one is very poorly written and poorly conceived and reflective of no historical understanding. It’s so terrible! And loudly so.

There is some argument to be made about how only the woman in this sordid scenario is paying a price but it is not a lynching in any way shape or form. I wish people demonstrated even a slight understanding of history.

FIFA is the most corrupt sporting institution in the world. We all know that. It’s a shame they control the World Cup. It’s a disgrace they made up a fake award for a horrible president. And your question was absolutely a judgment which is fine. Just don’t pretend otherwise.

Haití hasn’t had a government in years. Gangs have taken over the capital. Hunger is rampant. And no one cares. The one good thing that has happened in years is the World Cup qualification. It has given people hope. So yes be nauseous. But maybe consider realities beyond your own.
