Oh yeah absolutely, I sort of wish we got to see the religious schism that surely followed the events of the game too.

their debut album Sackcloth 'n' Ashes is hauntingly ephemeral

OH also! Anything by 16 Horsepower, if Gothic Americana counts.
They have some traditional songs they do, but also their own stuff, of course.

I do this with poetry fragments, in a sense. I used to hoard them to "develop later" or "find a place" but instead now, when one line hits me, I write it down, and then give myself a two minute timer to develop the whole idea around it, even if its rough.
It has led to some of my best work.

Honestly, that feels like the kind of thing that these companies trying to be American would make. Like the core PB&J flavors are grape by far, and then maybe raspberry or strawberry. But I think I've seen an ""American product"" of peanut butter and apple jam on shelves

I mean, that's why we still have articles sometimes from like The New Yorker and the Guardian being like "Everyone's talking about a new fantastic story-- and it's a video game"
November 29, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Yeah, there's definitely an overlap of the respectability question, and comic book does imply it's just "for fun" in some way. But I don't think video games becoming a huge market actually makes the average "non-gamer" think of games as "platforms of storytelling"

I struggled to think of what they wouldn't do if given the chance, without being absurd and saying something like "green tea flavored cheese spread"
November 29, 2025 at 1:34 PM
Conversely, books have no reputation towards "fun" like a "game" does, but they do have their own albatross, of being... "knowledge" or that a book ought enrich us. Dork ass dark academic "sanctity of the printed word" type tendencies lurk in all us, and I think are the root of tut-tutting at smut.

I'll explain it in swedish/Scande terms, it would be like if you saw a "Swedish delights" section of Aldi in Germany and they had some kind of cheese in a tube like kavli ost, but instead of being bacon or fish flavor, it was "ground beef" flavor

Stone Rain doesn't have the right tenderness to it?

Oh like they just have combinations for those bottled "flavoured milk drinks" that don't exist in the US, or if they do it's as a novelty, not a common one you'd easily find on a shelf, like "cookie dough milk"
They also do have premade cookie dough, but only for oatmeal raisin, which isn't normal

tangentially, I love seeing other countries "American style" products. UK Lidl has a brand called McEnnedy's American Way and it's like entirely fake stuff that doesn't exist in America, but sounds like it maybe could. Fake milkshake flavors, etc.
