Inspiration comes in waves for me. I can go days, weeks even, without a single idea that seems worthy enough to pursue. And maybe that’s the problem – too quickly dismissing ideas before they have a chance to nestle in and take shape. So, I’m trying to reset my mindset - listening more, noticing more, nurturing more. I’ve been absent for a few weeks from Poetry Friday. Two trips pulled me away. One was to a retreat at Lake Tahoe with my poetry group, the Nevermores. One to a family beach vacation in Ocean City, NJ. At Lake Tahoe we had lots of time to hike, work on projects, share, and do some spontaneous prompt writing. It's Poetry Friday! Last week I received my preorder of Where the Deer Slip Through written by Katey Howes and illustrated by Beth Kommes. Katey was a colleague, fellow poet, and friend who passed away much too young in 2024. I’ve read this book many times already, and each time I notice something new in the words or pictures and feel its calming quality.

It's Poetry Friday! I've been experimenting with creating a moon garden in my back yard, an area with plants that might capture and reflect the glow of moonlight. I did a little research, but mostly I've been looking on my own for plants and flowers in silver and white. Last week I came across a plant called Angel Wings. I was attracted to its velvety silver leaves and its name.

It's Poetry Friday, and already May! If you've read some of my recent posts, you know I've been writing cheritas using word prompts from Verse of Ages for my April Poetry Project. It's been fun seeing where those prompts take me. This week I visited a food pantry, went to a wedding, and watched a family of geese out for a morning stroll.
