Does anyone else sometimes focus on a date so hard (eg. a deadline) that when the next day finally comes around and shows on your phone screen you feel like Bill Murray waking up to a different radio show in Groundhog Day? As in, the idea of it was previously unimaginable? Just me, then.

Everyone is sharing wonderful Udo Kier memories so here’s mine: once in Rotterdam, I was going up an escalator while he was coming down. We didn’t even lock eyes or anything. True story.

Just weighing in on the BFotY chat: ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is (of course) great, but SIRĀT has won 2025.

I’ve only ordered one meal in Czechia so far, but I’m pretty sure they all come with a knife sticking out of them.

Great programme. Despite the revisiting and recognition of Wanda over the last 10 years or so Barbara Loden remains an enigmatic figure. What I know of her comes mostly from interviews on YT and old newspaper profiles around the release of Wanda describing her as Elia Kazan’s wife and not much else.

Blue Origin sounds like a terrible ‘90s surfer clothing line.

Thinking about CONCLAVE (which I have yet to see), the ridiculousness of the religious thriller, and Monty Python’s sketch about the bishop youtu.be/iqgaX_skm8w?...

This is a £240 ‘art toy’ marketed to me by my oat milk subscription service. It’s Nathan Barley’s world and we’re just living in it.

Having successfully avoided BACK TO BLACK thus far, seeing the first two minutes in which Marisa Abela’s Amy swoons at the mention of Ella Fitzgerald when the actual Amy didn’t rate her, was quite enough for me.

To be honest, I enjoyed how ridiculous JUROR #2 was. Kiefer Sutherland as the world’s most nonchalant attorney really took me to the fair.

Ah, the Late Streaming Era. People clamber over each other to predict the end of anything (especially if it involves moving image).

ANATOMY OF A FALL should come with the warning that P.I.M.P. will be stuck in your head for the rest of your life.

Doing some archival research and spotted the Radio Times listings for this day 60 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same, right?

I gave up Instagram and now I miss the New Yorker cartoons the most.

Now I’m going to watch The Killer and drink some cava.

Made the mistake of going on twitter. What an irksome place, full of riled up, condescending morons whipping each other up into a frenzy. Hello, Blue Sky and sweet relief!

Only a centrepiece table ashtray would enhance my experience of drinking Bailey’s while watching the restaurant scene in Marathon Man.

Sometimes Guardian headlines are just one-liners: “Remote employees ‘don’t work as hard’, says head of world’s biggest commercial landlord.”
