That’s of course without getting into matters of product taste, ability to work in a team etc… I do think everything is just going to be very very very different and we’ll have to work it out

I agree in some ways but don’t in others: I work on a complex distributed system and models can’t yet hold the code + infrastructure in the context window, I still have to heavily design changes before I make them…

Do think the world end state looks like “code is free, technical ability matters”

Every time Anthropic release a new model they poll internally on whether people would give up the model (opus 4.5) or the harness (Claude code), ppl would give up the model, by a long way, the harness really matters and often find skepticism from ppl copying and pasting code into ChatGPT

Yeah I think that programming suffers from being economic valuable to replace, a large verifiable RL training set that’s open source and genuine interest from users in doing so; don’t see however how this doesn’t come for us all in time. I think the “harness” matters a lot; Claude Code is great.

Have you used a coding agent like Claude Code w Opus 4.5? It’s like programming from the moon, that’s the level of difference and capability gap

This year was the year I stopped programming really

I don’t think it does? At all? In fact “whoops staging is accidentally public” is likely the story we’d be reading instead
