I've read the recollections of the crew's children and nieces and nephews on a memorial site. One man collected all the change he received over the year and divided it among the extended family's kids. Simple things like that. Punched me in the gut.

Just obsessed. And the obsession has its own shape in his head, its own texture, its own weight. He monitors it. Makes sure it still isn't him. It reminds him of they way he felt once when he was in love & didn't want to be. How he'd always find that ache, that absence in the shape of the beloved.
