The only reason why investing in his stupid golden dome under current conditions wouldn't be acceptable, is if he intends to withdraw from NATO anyway.

That's just shameful

1200 for a handheld is brutal all on its own.

Is this really too complicated for you? There's a difference between ideal circumstance and reality. We know reality is full of drivers that will follow too closely and don't pay attention 100% of the time. Those people are in the wrong. However because we know this, stopping without reason is too

It's illegal to stop on the highway outside of an emergency. You can't be this dense
December 31, 2025 at 10:28 PM
How do you conclude that?! You stop. It's a necessary emergency stop, which is legal. If you want to be pedantic, at least be accurate.

It is illegal to stop on the highway just because you got slightly confused. The waymo car did not lose a wheel, there was no meteor. It stopped without cause - other than being an incompetent driver. We should not want to unnecessarily increase hwy stoppages, because they do cause accidents.
December 31, 2025 at 11:09 AM
That there is partial blame for the human drivers is not relevant when gauging the performance of waymo. Human drivers are part of the reality that waymo operates in. It is within that reality that they need to perform. They shouldn’t cause accidents, even tangentially, by behaving unpredictably.

Yes, for sure. I just hope there’ll be some reprieve in the meantime. At its current abilities, AI is mainly a tool for the rapid enshittification of the internet. The amount of slop one needs to wade through to find decent content grows by the hour
December 31, 2025 at 8:49 AM
Sure, but without the billions upon billions spent on investment, it could take a very long time to get over the plateau at which we seem to be arriving.
December 31, 2025 at 8:34 AM
A crash is very likely looming. The end cost per consumer needs to be around 60-100 dollars per month to break even. For a service that has debatable merit, that’s a very high asking price. Without significant advancements without significant rise in cost, we’re on a definite course to a hard crash.
December 31, 2025 at 8:19 AM
I bet mobile phones would have skyrocketed too if they would have given them away for free. AI companies are losing money hand over fist. That’s not growth — that’s … well, you get the joke

This claim is totally absurd. A jamming radius of 6000km would jam roughly 20% of the Earth's surface and given the exponential fall off with distance, it would microwave kalingrad in the process.

This bubble can’t pop soon enough. One potential upside might be all the idle datacenters with decent GPU’s might finally bring affordable game streaming. They need to recoup their investment somehow 🤞

You’d think the steam machine is still pretty much targeting the tech savvy pc gamer niche. Therefore I’d say the price needs to be really close to or even slightly undercut a diy build of similar spec. If it doesn’t, there’s not much value there beyond novelty and aesthetics.

Let me put it like this, personally I feel in a much stronger position to criticize the populist right if I don't engage with media that employ similar tactics. I'll keep following DW and times radio instead - both very much critical of trump but backed up with excellent journalistic standards
September 22, 2025 at 11:44 AM
Whataboutism. Fox is nowhere near a glowing example of journalism, even without those court cases. We should want to hold ourselves to much higher standards and the list offered by OP covers that. Meidas touch is full of sensationalized opinion pieces that do more harm than good imo.

I bought a thrift store HDMI capable DVD player, including 25 of my favorite childhood movies for the equivalent of about 3 months of subscription fees. I so much prefer my kids to take a DVD and watch a movie than to stream anything. It's a much more intentional activity.

I highly recommend Times Radio for it's coverage on trump and Ukraine. They might be considered center-right in Britain on domestic issues, but on international topics they are a great source of expert opinion and reporting.
September 22, 2025 at 5:24 AM
I can't recommend this. It's the fox news of the left and very fast and loose with facts.
