Minors go away.
I love your works by the ways, really nice drawings you do.

Honestly piercings and reinforcements are a good idea, and I can 100% relate to giving waaaaaaaaaay too much brainpower to this kinda' thing.

The other idea I considered, but tossed, was that knights would be required to have holes cut through the membrane so the straps could 'slot' through. But that felt a bit gross. A harness felt like a good middle ground, layering lots of plates kinda' like scales.

(Dune here likes to flaunt, hence why he's letting his wings show.)

I think of it as them wearing something of a harness underneath, going down their front, under their tail and up around their back. The armour plates would be buckled onto said harness.
Since the wings are 'locked' by armour, additional plates

That is a problem, yeah. In my mind, I imagine it a bit like Ye Olde' Medieval knights, who often needed a squire to put on their armour for them.
In this case, each squad of dragons would probably assist each other in putting on their armour sets. Or otherwise have squires of their own.

I get what you mean, though. I decided to 'get around' the armour/wing issue by having the dragons glide rather than fly. So in combat, the wings would be locked in armour to prevent damage.
Dragons that have them out in combat do so to flaunt their confidence.

The Meteor Hammer just seemed like a perfect fit; it works with the range of movement a quadrupedal dragon would have in their shoulder/wrist, can be stored in an easy to reach pouch, and deals devastating damage!

Most people tend to assume someone getting hauled off by 'officials', are being hauled off 'for good reason', and don't want to intervene and risk having the book thrown at them, and their life ruined.
