There’s a bigger and longer story regarding this print that I’ll bore you with later , but I wanted to share this much because it’s the first time I’ve been able to get a print texture to mesh so hard with the original design, and it looks so good.

Right, then. Carry on.

From last night’s screening of @realgdt ‘s FRANKENSTEIN at Playhouse Cinema.
100 percent sold out, with illustrator (and fellow Hamiltonian) Geordie Millar discussing his work for Victor’s journals.
Magic to see up close, as Geordie spoke on the creative process to an eager audience.
Great night.

My latest obsession/acquisition:
It’s an absolute beast of a book and I can’t wait to jump in.

Another trip to Toronto, another round of medical poking and prodding.
So I’m sculpting a foot on the train.

It’s a foot. Don’t know what else to say.

Today’s rewatch.
Both the story and film changed me in ways I’m still feeling today.
A wonderful, sincere and moving cinematic gift.

A quick one to end the day.
A fancy fish man!

New Rue Morgue looks extra special, donnit?
Guillermo Del Toro AND Mike Hill discuss bringing Mary Shelley’s seminal gothic romance to the screen, and I’m here for every word of it. 🖤

Of all the narrative changes. Guillermo Del Toro had made in his FRANKENSTEIN, the expansion of Elizabeth, in purpose and agency, is my favourite. Her tender and emotional rapport with Jacob Elordi’s Creature is the beating heart of the film. Ethereal and understated work from Mia Goth.

Started a kobold.
So far, so good, far as kobolds go.

Shared this thought elsewhere:

Aside from Clive Barker’s work (mid 80s on), my pop culture awakening came in the 1990s.
HELLBLAZER, DOOM PATROL, THE INVISIBLES, Nine Inch Nails, Tori Amos, SE7EN, PULP FICTION… the list goes on. Anyone else feel this, or did the culture just finally fit me then?

Happy Birthday, @realgdt.bsky.social .
Thank you for your vision, your love of the outsider and the motivation to give my own inner menagerie life.
This moment changed my life’s trajectory and I’m forever grateful for the kick in the ass you gave me that day.

Last bit of sculpting for tonight.
Making this guy more festively appropriate for the next stage.
And now… lights out.
