BUT there’s an issue here because scents can change based on if the individual is stressed/angry. that artificial apple pie scent would smell absolutely disgusting.

all in all, the industry would probably die out. maybe another invention comes about.

perfumes could offer a temporary alter of scent. if someone has a fruity scent then they can pick out a gourmet scent so smell like an apple pie or something.

if someone smells like burnt rubber tires on hot pavement then smelling like raspberries isn’t going to go very well. surgeries to fix this problem would likely sell very well.

perfumes? either the industry dies out or they evolve. this depends on what’s in demand

i guess not everyone can smell like cupcakes and rainbows, so i bet there are so genuinely awful scents out there. perfume would have to be a very strong temporary fix in that case and would have to be long lasting. i don’t think it can be that strong though
