I think Sanji would be a way better character if he was more of an “all women are queens” type, but really he’s written more and more as a weird perv.

Sanji used to be my favorite character because he’s very cool and I think it’s fun that he’s so romantic. But as the show goes on it he is borderline harassing his crew mates and is misogynistic towards ugly women.

Obviously a lot of the politics of One Piece are great. But I get so tired of (usually dudes) refusing to engage with the weird way women are treated and the bizarre way they’re drawn. I like the show but it’s a significant weakness.

I just watched the ep where Kokoro saves almost everyone in the crew from drowning and everyone’s first reaction is disgust because she’s a mermaid but she isn’t hot. And this is the kind of shit that I really DON’T like about One Piece.
