I would have you preferred not to summarize rather than summarize the way you did, but whatever, it's done and I don't care to fight. I'm not an asshole.

It's a prequel to the Age Of Revelation timeline. We know how it ends.

Magik is sexually abused until she becomes an evil demon overlord and (presumably) kills S'ym.

And an outcome doesn't matter when the way to get there is so careless and cruel
November 26, 2025 at 11:53 PM
such a cowardly response to being so obviously wrong and unwilling to admit it. You've admitted you didn't do any research, and when I do, you tell me to "touch grass"? Fuck off.

You can’t talk about half of the conversation, dismiss the other half as “crazy toxic puritans” and then get mad when people explain why that’s not the full story
November 26, 2025 at 6:40 PM
I’m also frustrated you simplified the issue as “alluding to sexual assault”

Magik comics have alluded to SA since the 80. It’s dishonest to act neutral when you’re actively downplaying an issue you didn’t bother to look into.

This isn’t a hate post, but I don’t think you should do this at all.

A character who has consistently been connected with victims of CSA, abuse, and other subject matter was used in a way that was actively triggering and damaging. Real victims I’ve spoken to were blind sighted by something that reminded them of their trauma in a very cruel way.

These death threats are being used to spin a narrative that everyone who was disgusted and appalled by this is crazy and unhinged. It’s a way for comic writers to avoid acknowledging that they hurt people.

And you have no right to tell people to “walk away”.
November 26, 2025 at 6:31 PM
Well maybe you should look into the actual critiques that have been the center of the entire situation, or educate yourself on the topic.

Every movement or issue ever has shitheads. All of them. You can’t stop that. You CAN be smart enough to not let that overpower the words of people harmed.
November 26, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Do you want me to run a poll on whether or not the hundreds of people I’ve talked to about this support death threats? Maybe cite all the posts me and multiple other people have made condemning this behavior?

And don’t reduce this to “hurt feelings”. This was a comic about sensitive subject matter
November 26, 2025 at 6:22 PM
You can’t tell me it’s not the reason for the scrutiny when my posts were some of the biggest in this entire discussion on Twitter. I read the story and felt sick to my stomach.
November 26, 2025 at 6:19 PM
It’s not about “sanitization”

I like when stories are complex and dark. I don’t like when they treat CSA survivors and abuse as topics that aren’t worth respecting
November 26, 2025 at 6:15 PM
I acknowledged death threats are bad, we’re in agreement, but that CANT be the end of the conversation when it’s being manipulated to hurt people.
November 26, 2025 at 5:18 PM
I think it’s irritating seeing the death threats being used by the 1% of crazies (which have been condemned by everyone who seriously cares about the issue) when those are being hyperfocused by the criticized creators to shift the blame away from themselves and make female victims seem crazy.
November 26, 2025 at 5:17 PM
I think death threats are disgusting, but I'm very angry that a comic that's caused people I know to break down due to its insensitivity is being shielded by the gross actions random crazies we can't do anything about, especially hen most people WEREN'T doing that
November 25, 2025 at 10:35 PM
No, it's not! As a Magik fan, her story is intrinsically tied to healing from sexual abuse and overcoming it.

The hate comes from a book that sexualized her abuse and ends with her groveling for her (implied) rapist, to set up her becoming a villain in this future timeline event
November 25, 2025 at 10:34 PM
I don’t like seeing a character who was kidnapped and sexually abused as a seven year old be used in this way. It’s incredibly harmful, and it’s going to be a stain that I think about when your work comes up in the future if you don’t acknowledge it.

No hate, just a Magik fan expressing herself.
November 25, 2025 at 3:19 AM
I’m sure you didn’t have any ill intentions while working on this, but I’m incredibly distressed and discomforted. Seeing Magik submit to her abuser is a sickening sight that should’ve never been done, and your art contributed by creating such a sexual energy to her Darkchild form.
November 25, 2025 at 3:19 AM
And a lot of people felt deeply uncomfortable reading a story that ends with her groveling for her abuser.

Especially since it makes Mackay’s whimsical evil for the character a lot harder to stomach knowing the extreme sexual abuse that’s implied with the use of S’ym and Belasco.
November 25, 2025 at 2:27 AM
Aside from the unhinged weirdos that exist everywhere, most people just want you to acknowledge it was a mistake.

Because a lot of Magik fans ARE CSA survivors who empathized with the ideas that Claremont laid out about survival and healing. The direction chosen felt very gruesome.
November 25, 2025 at 2:27 AM
Nobody deserves death threats or harassment, and I don’t wish that on you or anyone you care about, but most people are speaking out against your newest comic because this is something that they feel deeply hurt by. This is a very sensitive topic handled in a way that felt unusually cruel.
November 25, 2025 at 2:27 AM
Very very cool to see, but I’ll be sooo sad if Huntress Wizard isn’t a trans woman because of this
