Smiling and asking someone how they're doing could be a reason that your ownday is brightened. Superficial surface kindness can lead to manipulation, sure, but completely alienating someone's feelings just because they take a little longer to explain them is really closed-minded and quite selfish.

Choosing to say things in a positive and kind manner doesn't compromise your honesty. I don't know what folks you associate with but maintaining a positive attitude does have its benefits. Being blunt has its place, outside of necessity you just come off like a douchebag to the common man.

I will say that this mentality stems from a lack of meaningful personal relationships. Learning how to word things is extremely important for maintaining good relationships. People don't maintain the same mentality you do, and it can be destructive to the ones you love if you let it go too astray.
