There's politics and politics. The problem now is what used to be non-politics (basic ideas of racial and gender equality, democracy, science, truth, integrity) is now politics.

No to all of these, and yes to using psychometrics to cover for practices that also happened in the US, Canada, and other settled countries (often with less sophisticated rationales) to take Native children from their parents.
