Lynch's work was a huge part of my life ("Eraserhead" was the first movie I rented when I finally got a VCR). The news of his passing do not come as a surprise, but it's still extremely sad. Movies were infinitely richer -- and weirder -- with him.

A few weeks later, when he was doing press for the New York Film Festival screening, my publicist friend got me another 15 minutes with him.
"What! You again!" he said the moment he saw me, which surprised me, because he had done so many interviews in the interim.
