Why is this a story?

I do believe people who have exhibited deviant or criminal tendencies still...read, and read things other than "how to be a better criminal."

When this dies down, I would love to discuss the concepts of master status, labeling, and stigma in my class using this very image.

No, ChatGPT.

I do not want the tesseract configured. The last time it was configured Loki almost took out the Avengers.

Hard to imagine the power of imagery in pre-industrial times.

Like how powerful is religious iconography?

Some poor peasant sees this and goes home and prays.

You have to be some kinda screw up to get a purple screen of death on an Ubuntu computer.

I should leave the tech stuff to the professionals.

AI is everywhere.

But I am understanding now that the term "AI" is doing a lot of work in 2025.

Quite frankly a game engine being allowed to make decisions was around since Nintendo 64 in the 80s/90s.

On the one hand, big-ups to Scott. Her generosity has to be recognized.

At the same time, her philanthropy does not come at any real cost to her.

Her giving has way more impact, but has a personal impact on her equivalent to a working class mom donating canned goods out of her pantry.

Subscribe to Fox 1 to watch the World Series.

I was introduced to a world of professional influencers.

I'd like to get into the reality that is being constructed by these ideologues.

Can't imagine getting my information and thoughts about things from people whose expertise is just talking.

Saw this screenshot and it reminds me of how profoundly immoral and sociopathic this person is.

How do you just *decide* to attack and ruin someone? Or come up with these Goebbels-like schemes?

Yes, muting one's identity in order to not appear too political our "out there", is not neutrality...but erasure.

My co-editor and I made a decision to seek out white, rural, and working class contributors to our DEI book. The last two submissions I've read, including this one, tell me we made a good decision.

Other sociologists need to be aware of the experiences of working class academics (like myself).

I don't know.

Is this like saying females are made "better women" when they contort their bodies in ways solely to fit a (male) standard of beauty?

Many men get on the masculinity hamster wheel solely to fit a (female) standard of attraction, but I don't think it makes them "better men."

It was a good night for The Left in my state.

Even though it doesn't appear that way from this map.

I'd love for more visual representations that signal population and not geography.

These "sea of red" maps are always misleading.

Starting to think that Trump and left-leaning podcasters *need each other.*

I mean, at this point these rantings aren't worthy of comment and are really just re-posted by podcasters to draw attention to their channels. Both Trump and the podcasters get attention they need.

Interesting dynamic.

On the one hand, given the amount of misery our current leadership is generating in this country, I understand this impulse.

On the other, one wonders if a collection of people who embrace violence so eagerly simply expects it in other people. In other words, it might be a projection.

It's been a minute since I have been racially profiled.

I'm going to take a little break, play some Pong and enjoy the fruits of that... "interesting" experience in the grocery store.

"Well ma'am I found a good way to test these cantaloupes...see you tap it lightly with the tip of your gun barrel like so..."

"Oh that's a good idea let me..."

"No, no you can't use that Ruger. You need a glock."

A pirate would think this is a doubloon just dug up from Peg Leg's buried treasure, and not a (ahem) fresh Tony's Chocolonely mini.

Not a big fan of peer reviewed publications being the way to evaluate academic output. Yes, it's by design a slow and exclusionary practice.

But I wrote these lines in a still unpublished piece in late 2023. It might eventually get published a this career stage I'd rather just write for the public.

I can really add to my "kooky" cred if the next time a student comes into my office, I challenge them to a game ancient humans used to play called Atari.

When you burrow down an algorithmic rabbit hole deep enough...you will find unexpected things.

Having a hard time reconciling Willie Nelson with Kermit the Frog.
