I don't know the show, but as a rider, wind chill is a big deal and can sometimes make you wear insulated gear in temperatures that wouldn't seem to need it. The one place this wouldn't really apply is in a major city, where you expect to stop a lot and won't have so much wind.

Also since both tires stay on the ground, the bike's weight is more distributed overall, and that can sometimes matter. A sidestand with a decent foot on it can stay atop the ground in situations where a center stand's pegs would sink in.

Depends where you are/what you need. I tended to use it on ferries because it keeps the bike's center of gravity lower so it's more stable against rocking.
