#Lifedrawing again tonight at the clock house tavern in Peckham Rye! Great fun. Usual challenge of time versus accuracy in proportions... Plenty of mistakes (not shown!), but also lots I'm really happy with! Enjoyed the pastels for one, mostly #pencilsketch with some #watercolour

My sketch of The Green Book #portraitchallenge by Harold Knight, 1925. Pencil sketch, 9 minutes. Quite pleased with how I didn't overdo my line work on her face. Thanks @schnagi.mastoart.social.ap.brid.gy and of course @studioteabreak.bsky.social

Quick #pencilsketch on the Southbank London - man checks for directions (on his phone... or more likely reads an email... ) just enough time stopped for me to get the basics... Then helpfully stopped a bit closer to me!

I grew up thinking that some people were just born “talented” at #art. If you weren’t good at it immediately then it wasn’t for you.

Now I know that’s a myth. Good is subjective and you get better with practice. Give yourself the space to develop.

You’re not bad. You’re just learning ☺️

#Lifedrawing again last night at the clock house tavern in Peckham Rye! Really great, range of short and long poses, as usual bits turn out well, others less so. Getting better!

This was an 18 minute #pencilsketch. Pleased with how most of it turned out (apart from one tiny foot!)

5mins #pencilsketch study of Honore Daumier drawing 'Rue Trasnonian'

Again sketching really helps me to get into a different headspace!

Oil paint on watercolor paper is an interesting combo. I didn’t gesso it first so that made it kinda weird. Scratching the trunks of the trees in was a cool surprise.

Some of my #watercolour paintings from tonight's #Lifedrawing session. 15 and 20minute poses. Again really like aspects... But I'm terrible at faces generally! Also they feel washed out and without definition... Tempted to go over now (with pen?) just as a test??!

#Lifedrawing again tonight. Pleased with this 5 minute #pencilsketch... Quite quick, so pretty Happy with how the proportions worked out, although leg not right...

#Lifedrawing again at the clock house tavern in Peckham Rye tonight, was great!
So difficult, but fun. Kept getting proportions wrong, but good to blast through!

Quick twirl around the drawing galleries of the British Museum, #pencilsketch study of a couple of Watteau drawings from 1716. Didn't know his work, nor the black, red and white chalk technique. Feel like I can see the speed and ease in his strokes...

Attended #Lifedrawing at the clock house tavern in Peckham Rye tonight, was great!

Different timings for each pose, 25mins down to 30 seconds! And excitingly I finally got my #watercolour brush pens out after maybe 20 years under the bed! Just as I remember: fun, challenging, room to improve.

Speedy #pencilsketch study of the Raphael painting 'the woman with the veil' #portraitchallenge...
My usual pattern - I set a timer for 4 minutes, to try to sketch faster... But when it goes off I'm not happy it's good enough! Sneaked it up to 6½ minutes...needed more! 😂

New pencil sketch of an old #portraitchallenge, which I didn't dare to attempt at the time, because of the really difficult perspective of her face! 'The young musician' by Attilio Andreoli. 12 minutes.
Thanks again @studioteabreak.bsky.social!
