This is a great point, and something that didn't occur to me at the time. The sentient bots in Machine Sympathy come with all the downsides of self-awareness too. They got anxiety and depression! They get horny, have addictions! They can experience chronic pain and frustration and sadness about it!

Because I guess it requires repeating - we kiss robots here, but that does NOT include genAI and LLMs.
