I turned down an opportunity to appear today on Times Radio opposite ‘someone like Kathleen Stock or Rosie Duffield’ to discuss Geraldine Scott’s Times article based on an apparently leaked version of the EHRC service provision guidance.

Leadership

How to confuse you interviewers - number 27

Some years ago, I was asked what my leadership style was and I replied ‘auftragstaktik’ and was faced with two blank stares from the panel.

Doesn’t everyone study German battlefield command strategies?

Trans Awareness Week

Danger - Conversion Therapist at work

Every line of this is wrong.

No-one ‘identifies as trans’. They might identify as as male or female and that might differ from their birth sex. More rarely, they may identify with a more complex identity - non-binary, gender-fluid etc.

Trans Awareness Week - Tough to be Trans

I would ask all my cis followers and allies who still have access to the sewer that of Twitter to take 5 minutes look up the threads from the first two snaps attached to understand the kind of trolling that Trans people have to put up with in the UK today.

Supreme Court Flaws - Number 3

‘The Supreme Court waved its magic wand and ‘POOF’ - Trans people magically disappeared.

Next week - the FWS Judgement, Sport, S195 of the Equality Act - forcing a square peg into a round hole.

Trans Awareness Week

Some thoughts from me on an unusual TA week - in a good way.

Folk apparently found helpful my exposition of what I have been calling the ‘Hansard Gap’ in the For Women Scotland judgment. At the suggestion of a correspondent, I am going to set out the myriad other difficulties with this judgment one by one over coming weeks.

I’m an atheist, so I don’t believe in an afterlife, but the US SC judges who came up with this nonsensical justification for allowing the Trump ban on correct markers in trans people’s passports probably do. If so, they are headed for a very hot place… 🔥 🔥 🔥

… Lord Filkin when taking the GRA through Parliament in 2003 (speaking about the effect on the SDA, the EA, predecessor) and Vera Baird when similarly handling the passage of the EA in 2009. I post both below.

Barristers at the weekend

Working today, helping a charity through a big change in their governance which has involved a stay away from home in grey, rainy England…

It’s a tough life, but someone has to do it!

Tickety Nonsense

Short distance Senior Swindon split

There are savings to be made even on relatively short distances.

Today I am off to Swindon with the Chartered Institute of Rail operators to hear Mark Hopwood, GWR MD speak. He is always good value.

I’ve been asked about the attached.

Of course, if the facilities are gender-neutral, or separated by gender not sex, or provided in areas that the Supreme Court ruling had no relevance to, like workplace facilities under the 1992 Regulations, no one is ‘flouting’ any law to be inclusive.

Where are the parliamentarians speaking up for parliamentary sovereignty? The country needs to hear from you.
October 18, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Who is in charge?

An aspect of the almighty mess that is the For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers Supreme Court judgment that I have found surprising, perhaps shocking, is the silence from parliamentarians about the Supreme Court’s ignoring the will of Parliament.

EHRC throws a tantrum

‘We’re taking back our interim guidance - so there!’ Said an a spokesperson for the quasi-government agency after blowing a raspberry.

Time to get a new research assistant.

Something from Sonia Sodha I AGREE with, but not perhaps in the way she intended.

We do not rise by stamping on others.

The ‘childish and parochial campaign’ is the one that suggests women will be advanced by fitting us all into a patriarchal pro forma.
