Interesting that this is the first black Friday with native access to price history on Amazon - so it's possible to see how many items do indeed put their price up in the run up to Black Friday, to appear discounted this weekend.

Geekily interesting how two huge media organisations can have the exact opposite interpretation of privacy law / policy as to whose faces to blur or unblur on these stories (Guardian, and BBC)

Today I had to order some roadworks signs, and on the order confirmation I discovered it's an unprecedented time for roadworks signs

The mainline into Euston features multiple graffiti tags saying "I farted in Yoga", and now I'm wondering if Celia Imrie is out there with her spray can of a Monday night?

Off to @livetheatre.bsky.social on Friday to see Bad Lads by @graeaetheatre.bsky.social, which plays there until Saturday night - if you want to too, you need to get your skates, or other mobility aid of your choice, on 🛼

Love the Last Night of the #BBCProms, and this year we seem to have been spared the political nonsense on both sides ♥️

Thought six: If Starbucks want to understand where it's going wrong, they need to start with their American pain au chocolat, and work back from here to examine all the processes that led to the idea that this is worth a) serving and b) $6.

Thought 5: Conferences have done horrible things to my mood and self-esteem over the years. This year has been much better. Boundaries are key. You don't have to do every last thing. Give your energies where you're wanted and welcomed, and don't push to get in where you're not. Just relax.

Thought 4: Accessible design is so important, and yet... Railway stations and other transport hubs are better when treated as canvases for creativity - buildings old and modern here, and I know which I prefer
August 16, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Thought 3: Public art can't help but lift a place. The majolica bus stop seat. The downtown branch of a gallery in a old shop. The train station mural. It's all worth it to lift the spirits.
August 16, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Thought 2: Get the bus. Shows you a lot about a place I think, and buses seem to be where the destitute of Orange County end up - people shouting through delirium of various descriptions were a consistent audio backdrop. Safety nets. Society needs them. Or it all lands on churches, buses and police

10 days in Southern California, two conferences and a ton of remote work done and I'm feeling reflective! Here's some pure self indulgence.

Thought 1: I'm not as old as I will be, but I'm not as young as I used to be. The line being travelling for work being net interesting and net knackering is 🤷‍♂️
