Slightly older than Sgt Pepper, slightly younger than Milton Keynes. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇪. Dad. Registered Nurse. Minimally published unit. Variegated dilettante.
This thing still plucks at my brain 30 years later, which I suppose is exactly what it’s supposed to do, so buying a new edition before the old one succumbs, like the heart, to overuse, seems reasonable, no? I do so love that old cover though @mjohnharrison.bsky.social - the Steadmanesque lettering!

“This is the power of the US government at its best.” Kash Patel, you mealy-mouthed lying little toe-rag. Those men wouldn’t have been there to be shot if your boss hadn’t ordered them there under blatantly false pretences. The power of the US government at its best is the polar opposite of that.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Waiting in the sea light for @willdalrymple.bsky.social at QPAC in Brisbane, hoping he’ll sign his ancient book for his increasingly ancient fan 🤞🏽

The only POTUS in history to need a sign telling him which world-famous oval-shaped office is the one he’s supposed to be in.

Season 2: Daredevil rallies the great people of NYC and defeats mad-as-hell Kingpin and his gang of sad haters in a free and fair election! Oh wait no this is live TV…
They wrapped Daredevil: Born Again in April last year, so they couldn’t have known, but Fisk = Trump and NYC = America or I’m a bush turkey.

Kennedy called autism “a [good start] complex [yes, good] condition [perfect, now just stop] with [I said stop] a [where are you going with this?] multi-factual [what? I mean… no, wait, what?!] ideology [WHAT!!??]”

What next? Marxist flu? Radical leftist cardiomyopathy? STALINIST ALZHEIMER’S?

Every word of this ❤️
If you, like me, are the parent of a neuro-atypical child dreading this autism press conference, please remember: These are the people hurting our kids. Not us. They are the ones stigmatizing and pathologizing them. They are the ones peddling untested science. And we should be very, very angry.

I’d always thought that the whole point of America was that the American people “get to decide what the American people think” but I guess that whole ‘No tyrants! Give me liberty!’ thing is all just old hat now. Shame, really.

What he said (much more powerfully and succinctly than I just did).
the intensity of my anger at those who would criminalize the homeless — a population literally created by the greed and callousness of the ruling class — is very hard to contain. it was you who dismantled the safety net. if you don’t like the results, put it back

The gangs, criminals, youth & maniacs all have extra inherently loaded descriptors. The homeless people don’t, because for Trump ‘homeless’ is equivalent to ‘violent/bloodthirsty/wild/drugged out’ & it’s meaningless to him that they’re people. On Sunday he told the homeless people to leave DC. (1/2)

Right then. The Return of Covid, the sequel that no one (specifically me) wanted after two and a half years since the original. At least this time I have themed reading material.

I only went in for one of these (gesturing at you @damonyoung.com.au) but @willdalrymple.bsky.social is never less than dazzling, @keithhouston.bsky.social’s Book book & the pocket @tate.bsky.social Blake were impossible to resist, & @mosababutoha.bsky.social’s poems are infinitely necessary.

The head of an administration that came to power on a tide of hatred and radicalism that it openly and blatantly encourages and rewards solemnly declaring that there’s no place for hatred and radicalism in his country: this is the new gold standard for monstrous hypocrisy.
