I've used WordPerfect for decades. It's MUCH more consistent with formatting than Microsoft Word. But Amazon and other self-publishing platforms require Word. It's frustrating.

In the time I've lived here, the lake no longer freezes (I remember people driving on it), we have new species of birds that have moved here, fire season starts earlier and stays longer, and local vineyard owners are planting drought-resistant varieties. None of that is political.

I'm working on the audiobook version of my second novel, "The Long Journey." I'm hoping to finish by next September. (It's a HUGE project. The Long Journey is my best-selling novel, but it's 220 000 words in length, so this will take time.)

It's sad that public education isn't valued, but I suspect that it's part of the whole anti-intellectual, anti-science and anti-equality effort being promoted in our country now.
