Baumol’s Economic Theory and Operations Analysis was also our primary micro textbook for prelims in 1976/7 - still on my bookshelf!

With others too, yet still the politicians don’t hear, or, if they do, remain unwilling or brave enough to act on it. I had hopes, even when ambushed into a corner during the election, that we might see a change. But we still lack that wider public debate or, it seems to me, any route to it.

I am reminded of "the appropriateness of a particular economic measure can only be judged relatively to surrounding circumstances. He insists on misconstruing Hansen's teaching that a public debt is sometimes a good thing into a doctrine that it is always a good thing."(Wright AER Sep 1943 p.579)

Setapp is a similar Mac app model for indie developers but never been interested in enough to make it worthwhile.

My point was that there are some aggregate subscription models that may be an option if you are interested in enough of the package, such as Apple News+ which provides eg The New Republic and The Atlantic alongside a pile of consumer titles
