I think it’s due to operating from a basis of fear/anger. Linear time doesn’t exist there. Like when your partner upsets you, all you can think about is every other single time they’ve upset you in the a similar way. It feels like it’s all happening now. You know, ‘truthiness’ instead of truth.

It’s the seduction of the “silver bullet,” the belief that there remains a fact yet to be revealed that’s so damning that it will break Trump’s spell. But he’s not a witch, he’s a fascist. It’s not magic, it’s an awful movement, and you beat it not with counterspells but with better organizing.
