This in an attempt to have the NFL and USFL merge. Of course, the NFL games crushed the USFL and 1985 was their last year. But Trump did what he always does when he makes an incredibly stupid decision. He and the USFL sued the NFL and won. How much did the NFL have to pay him $3.00! 2/2.

When the United States Football League existed (1983 - 1985), Trump bought the New York Generals. The league played their games in the Spring/Summer and did fairly well. Then Trump and some other owners had the league move the games to the Fall/Winter competing directly against the NFL. 1/2
