It was not exactly easy to report factually from the Soviet Union at the time and the USSR did a massive cover up of the scale of the famine. Earlier famines in the Soviet Union were covered and there was western aid.

Basically Ukraine could only accept a freeze in the current frontlines and not joining NATO in return for cast-iron security guarantees.

I think the difference in the uk was that the slavery was done in islands far away and it mostly directly benefited extremely rich ppl (a tiny minority). It’s not as entangled in the day to day.

Your two examples aren't really massive pop cultural phenomena that would reach a huge % of the population. Ppl are generally pretty ignorant of history and don' really inform themselves about it,

I mean there’s no evidence at all that any of this reform lite stuff is winning ppl back from reform and it’s just alienating their core vote. Maybe the focus groups show something different but the polling doesn’t

I’m curious why they are still trying to win over reform voters rather than get their core vote back as even to get 25% would immediately get their PLP back and dampen leadership speculation

Yeah the group stage is very lacking in jeopardy, the old style 2 from 4 was much better.
