Have seen more SEOs than ever before this winter, including air battles with northern harriers. Then, a cute little burrowing owl. #birds #inat

The short eared owl. One of my “nemesis” birds. But today, I finally got some decent shots of this migratory visitor to our area. Such a gorgeous bird, and such cute little “ears”!

This past spring I was at the PutahCreek South Fork Preserve looking for migratory warblers mainly. But after sitting and watching in one spot, as I turned to leave, something caught my eye in a tree about 30 feet away. Seems I caught his/her eye too. #wildlife #Davis #NorCal

I have a few “nemesis” birds, the Golden Eagle being one of them. I’ve seen a few, and something never goes right. Overexposed (like these, tried to fix them), blurry, just bad shots, etc. These are unique because of where I found them…just SW of Monticello Dam. Worth a post despite the quality.

My all time favorite encounter was last almost a year ago now. The northern pygmy owl. 3 years of searching and waiting, and this guy just came right up to me. It was amazing!

If you take the less beaten paths of the #UCDavis arboretum, look carefully…you never know who you might meet. #iNaturalist #UCD

My first post! We’ll start with shots from Monday, Lake Berryessa region. Not the best shots, but got to see a golden eagle and bald eagle on the same day, not a usual sighting!
