WIP. Voltiguers of Napoleon III's Imperial Guard, resplendent in their full dress uniforms. 25mm Frontier figures and a Foundry officer. An ebay purchase of painted and unpainted (but now painted) figures that will finally see the table top. 25mm Frontier figures, and a Foundry officer.

Looking back at my posts, looks like I've painted 800+ figures this year, mostly 25/28mm, completing several decade-old projects.

The pile of shame decreases some.

WIP. Next up, Voltiguers and Grenadiers of the Guard. Napoleon III's imperial guard wore blue trousers and an habit-like coat with turn backs in the Crimea. The original painter put them in red trousers, and I am fixing that. The left figure is after repainting and shading. 25mm Frontier figures.

And ready for the table.

WIP. Mystery Zouaves on their stands, found a couple of 12lbers, and 3 mitrailleuse! The original owner of this lot definitely started a Crimean War force, but was also FPW figures.

And more Crimean war French infantry done. 25mm Foundry figures and contrast paints mostly.

And the last of the Crimean War French cavalry. 25mm Frontier figures, I think. Cuirassiers, hussars, lancers, and more chassuers d'Afrique. And a general, Looking very Marshal Foch-like.

Cuirassiers and Hussars too. I think the Cuirassiers are Frontier figures. No idea who made the hussars. Two regiments of hussars and two regiments of cuirassiers were sent to the Crimea. I have discovered that nobody ever made French dragoons for this period.

Oh yeah, this ebay purchase had a bunch of already painted Frech cavalry too. So far Chasseurs d'Afrique and Algerian Spahis. 25mm figures from a variety of manufacturers. I am guessing Minifigs, Frontier and possibly Hinchliffe.

WIP. 1850s French infantry in frock coats and shaking. 25mm Frontier and Foundry figures. You won't see the Frontier figures ever again.
November 19, 2025 at 1:58 AM
WIP Wednesday. French Franco Prussian war figures passing for Crimean War infantry. 25mm Foundry metal and Perry plastics done in contrast paints. I never would have tried two color epaulets in the past. Now they are easy enough.
November 14, 2025 at 1:34 AM
WIP Wednesday. 48eme Regiment d'Infantrie. 25mm Foundry figures, although the ensign may be Mirliton. Had to paint up a half dozen of the unpainted to fill out the unit, and used contrast paints, and then used several GW shading inks on the already painted figures to tie them all together.
November 6, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Now for something completely different.
An ebay haul of mid 19th century French, this is just the painted portion. 25mm Minifigs, Frontier, and Foundry figures. They did not come to on stands, and I suspect they have never seen the table top. I will fix that.

Italian men-at-arms. Can't fight in Italy without some. Did the Bande Nere have men at arms? I don't know, but they do now! 25mm TAG figures and contrast paints. Flags by Pete's Flags.
October 31, 2025 at 7:28 PM
A very light Spanish gun, and Italian pikemen Did the Bande Nere have pikes? Well, they do now! 25mm TAG and Foundry figures, with a very old GW and Essex knights for officers. Flags by Pete's Flags. Painted with contrast paints, mostly.
