Retired from health care, now indulging my creative side (woodworking, guitar, singing/songwriting, artistic painting) with a little golf sprinkled in. Lifelong Michigan resident. Trying to stay sane and have fun!
Thanks!

BTW, some link was imbedded in this response but it was not intentional on my part and I don’t know what it is or how it got there.

…leadership that can reverse this course. All we have is our votes, and even that is no safeguard if old corrupt politicians are replaced with new corrupt ones. In the end, integrity and virtue among elected and appointed leaders are the only things that matter in terms of preserving our republic.

…ferret out those outliers and expunge them. For the first time in our nation’s history we are now dealing with a governing body so thoroughly immersed in corruption that our system of checks and balances is teetering on the brink of total failure. We, the people know this and must find new…

I don’t think we expect it as much as we understand what should happen and express our frustration that it isn’t happening. One of my standard remarks in 2025 has been that Congress and the supreme court has really, really let us down. I read a lot of US history and from it I’ve learned that…

We can only hope that the reported chaos that reigns in this administration prevents it from fixing the next two elections. THAT is what I worry about most these days.

The NCAA has made a mess of college football, and players bailing during bowl season adds to the desecration. Supposedly the TV money keeps the bowls afloat but how long will people watch what amounts to exhibition games with substitutes?

As if this is any surprise from the administration whose position on the daily illegalities that flow from it is “I am rubber and you are glue…” SCOTUS and Congress continue to fail the people and apparently there isn’t a goddamn thing we can do about it. If this isn’t tyranny I don’t know what is.

Tua isn’t the first and won’t be the last young athlete to decide playing football is the only thing that will bring happiness and success. Such a myopic view of oneself is tragic. He faces a dim future since his highly conditioned body will last many years without proper brain functioning.

Trump has managed to convince people that the truth doesn’t matter, and what flows from that is that honor and virtue don’t matter, and oaths don’t matter.

Ten years from now we’ll be watching a heart-wrenching story on 60 Minutes or ESPN about Tagovoiloa, who’ll be unable to care for himself for all the brain damage he suffered during his playing days. Judging from some of his throws on Monday night he already seems impaired. He faces a bleak future.

I think it’s been well established that any given team can find talent regardless of their position in the draft, and that being the number one pick doesn’t mean diddly squat in predicting success in the NFL.
December 17, 2025 at 1:44 PM
Let’s see, 1966 - was that Harry Gilmer? Such a parade of ineptitude.
BTW, thank you for your service to our country!

Couldn’t read your piece because of the f-ing paywall, but here’s the simple truth: winning in the NFL is very hard. ONE team gets it right each year and the other 31 bitch and moan with the woulda-coulda-shoulda’s.
December 15, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Sure it was a botched call but does anyone really think the Rams wouldn’t have scored a TD anyway with first and goal at the one? This call wasn’t the difference in the game.
December 15, 2025 at 3:49 PM
…perspective, every year, ONE team (the eventual champion) gets it right. ONE TEAM out of 32 gets the right mix of offense, defense, depth to help with injuries and/or avoiding them. The other 31 say what we’re saying right now, coulda shoulda. Yes it’s frustrating but, remember the Matt Millen era?
December 15, 2025 at 3:35 PM
Well…let’s just say the defense is still our weakest link. Would you trade one of our offensive stars for a big improvement on the D-line? If not we’d have to spend big in free agency cuz fixing it through the draft hasn’t worked very well. The O line needs work too. It’s complicated, and for…

Yep - next year the Bears and Lions respective schedules will probably flip. At first I thought the Bears were lucky but now I admit that they are a pretty good team. Ben Johnson has done a great job. I hate the Bears because their fans are braggarts but I give the actual team their due credit.
December 15, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Yep - bad 3rd qtr but overall they played pretty well and lost a close game to what is presently the best team in the league with the probable league MVP at quarterback. No shame in that.
December 15, 2025 at 2:58 PM
…injuries. Yes every team has them but where and when they occur and their severity is entirely unpredictable. This team is still very solid at its core but I do think Holmes has to make a bold move through trade or free agency to improve the defensive and offensive lines during the offseason.
