I work as a medical coder and knowing these rules is a prof req for me. This rule of having a Face to Face between a doctor and a patient is longstanding and makes sense. The doctor has to be able to see, hear and touch the patient in order for the visit to be paid at an office visit rate.

This is something that has been coming for a long time. The telehealth visits are usually not acceptable due to documentation requirements because they require a provider to be present face to face and perform a physical examination of the patient. However, during Covid this requirement was relaxed.
