My housing-nerd reseach turned history paper has become journalism! I am v excited to share the origin stories of these two neighbors (and what that story tells us about segregation, 1930s planners' aspirations, and federal housing policy) 🏘

The unique New Deal planned communities were designed to address DC’s acute housing shortage in the 1930s and uplift the virtue of residents, but ultimately failed to live up to their full promise.
