Moral of the story, you can anonymously dispose of anything for free as long as it weighs about as much as lead and fits in a double tied grocery bag…

“Ok, do you need any paperwork?”
“Nope”
“Do you need my id?”
“Nope”
“Do I get a receipt?”
“Nope.”
“Ok, thanks”
“Have a good day.”

So I bicycle over with a box of shells, double wrapped in paper and opaque plastic bags, feeling kind of weird. Show up, ring the buzzer, get buzzed up to the bulletproof glass.

“Can I help you?”
“Yeah, I have some old ammo, where do I take it?”
“Ehhh, just leave it there on the counter.”

“hey, I have some old shells, where do I take them?”
“Just come to the precinct.”
“What times are you open to accept these items?”
“Oh, either come in a half hour or else after 1 pm.” (Lunchtime I guess)

Came across some old 12ga shells. Like the born-on date starts with a “1.” None of the dumps will accept it. So I see on the police dept web site they will take old ammo, but you have to call ahead, so I do.

Not just garbage vs recycle vs food waste, but like who accepts compact fluorescent bulbs vs old cellphone batteries vs old car batteries (different folks). Like setting appointments to drive to hazmat transfer point open three half days a week only.

Funny quasi related story. Cleaning out a house in Seattle I had resigned myself to sorting every little thing out to where it must go:

The Secretaries told I?

I know people are choosing pronouns these days by generally not subject vs object.

Look up John Connors, former Ignition VC and more recently
Bellevue high school football fixer.

I always wondered; if a hecto-millionnaire fancied the thrill of watching his money be decisive in teenagers’ football games, then why not boost the state’s poorest boys, instead of the richest?

I mean, replicating the results from a bog-standard 2000’s era molecular biology paper from the “materials and methods” section, from scratch without any cultural background or propaedeutics, would probably take a decade of re-skilling.

Even so, while a crypto nerd likely has *sent* a private email, unless it was also to a crypto nerd, it very likely 1. Never was opened, or 2. Rapidly ceased to be private

Strongly concur that rates are the lever that moves this chart, at least for smaller/startup tech. I would argue that SVB was just a downstream effect, not a cause, and that AI investment has likely *mitigated*, not caused, much of the recent dip.

This is the degenerated clone of Jim Bell’s “Assassination Politics,” an under-appreciated ur-text of the cryptocurrency movement.
