👉 Clonidine and metoprolol use ⬇️
👉 Norepinephrine use ⬆️

10/ As expected, they found:
✅ ICP ⬆️ when measured at ear
✅ CPP ⬇️ when measured at ear
✅ MAP did not differ between groups

9/ In this retrospective review of #TBI patients, they compared 49 patients from the 2013-16 vs. 53 in the 2018-22 time period and were well matched:

7/ As you can imagine, depending on where you measure your MAP, your CPP values will be very different (image from: link.springer.com/ar...)

2/ When we think about #ICP monitoring, a lot of the parameters that we use come from research where it was shown that ICP>20 was related to ⬆️ ☠️ in #TBI 🤕 patients

12/ 70% of patients had #ARC, and #ARC patients were mostly men, with lower Cr and tended to be younger

Of these 50 pts, 8 had seizures and 7 had ARC

Furthermore, pts w/ ARC had:
👉 shorter elimination ½ life
👉 faster drug elimination
👉 lower Cmax
👉 lower Cmin

11/ Data on 50 patients was reported, providing 191 plasma samples. Most were men and most were patients with #TBI

6/ This is also why it is SOOO important to adjust the dose when patients we are treating with #LEV develop kidney injury: once you are excreting less, the levels will build up in your body

2/ #levetiracetam is an anti-seizure 💊 (#ASM) that works by binding SV2A, which is believed to modulate transmission by ⬇️ excitatory neurotransmitter release and inhibiting Ca channels (image from: www.sciencedirect.co...)

10/ Despite anticoagulation, pt presents several months later with left sided weakness, neglect, gaze deviation again 😩! #CT 🐱scan again with no acute stroke, evidence of prior stroke, but CTA again with right M1 occlusion!!!
